Just Another Day - LAB 2018

Opening Reception

Locust Projects is pleased to announce an open call to Miami-Dade high school students for a chance to participate in Locust Art Builders (LAB), a collaborative exhibition at the organization's visual art exhibition space in Miami's Design District.

For four weeks, from June 18 to July 13, 15 to 20 young artists from schools across Miami-Dade work with established contemporary visual artists to learn about the practical and creative aspects of mounting a public exhibition, which they develop and produce in association with their peers. The LAB program encourages attendees to develop ideas and produce work collaboratively, resulting in an exhibition that has been devised and produced as the result of a team effort. This invaluable opportunity allows young artists to widen their perspectives, connect with other young artists and established arts professionals, and gain the experience of making an exhibition in an established visual arts space.

LAB promotes contemporary art and project-based learning as a means to encourage creativity, critical analysis, and problem solving, while building communication skills. The LAB program extends Locust Projects’ 20-year commitment to experimentation and innovation in artistic practice to the next generation of South Florida artists.

Locust Projects envisions a world where all artists have the freedom to experiment and are essential to our society.
