In addition to our artist residency and commissioned exhibitions, we inspire curiosity in new art and the exchange of new ideas through free public programs and community collaborations.
As a resource for artists, we provide incubator grants to Miami-based artists who seek to create socially-engaged projects in non-traditional venues and provide local artists with professional development resources, workshops and temporary r+d space to incubate creative careers.
Core programs:
Practice + Process: artists reveal their creative process during this intimate series of behind-the-scenes discussions.
Talks: provides direct access to the top curators and ideas driving contemporary art today, through a year-long series of conversations presented by Locust Projects and Oolite Arts.
Locust Art Builders (LAB) Summer Art Intensive for Teens: every summer Locust Projects turns its space over to 25 teens from across the county to learn how to build an exhibition from scratch.
WaveMaker: part of a national network of Andy Warhol Foundation re-granting programs, WaveMaker at Locust Projects supports Miami’s visionary artists with incubator grants for innovative, publicly accessible projects. Since 2015, WaveMaker Grants have awarded $399,000 in funding to 77 of Miami’s most visionary artists, curators, and collectives.
LegalARTLink: a Miami-based legal aid and education program, LegalARTLink serves artists and arts organizations throughout the state of Florida.
R+D Mobile Studio: A new initiative launched in 2017, R+D / Mobile Studio offers artists space and time to develop ideas for new projects and conven conversations and collaborations that inform new directions.
NOW ON VIEW! Jen Clay: Eyes of the Skin. September 16-November 4, Wed-Sat 11am-5pm. JOIN US for the artist talk and public reception on Saturday, Sept 23!
