After months of rumors, it is with deep regret that LOCUST PROJECTS announces that it will be taken over by the Chicago-based culture raiders and full-time party boys LAW OFFICE featuring Puerto Rican outlaw Pedro Velez. LOCUST PROJECTS, which always prided itself in being the last bastion standing against the forces of LAW OFFICE, will turn its building over on January 11, 2003. This date will mark a difficult moment in the history of LOCUST PROJECTS. After weeks of speculation the stage is set for LAW OFFICE’S controversial exhibition “Fountain of Youth.” This ruthless and politically incorrect extravaganza will comment on colonization in contemporary America and the “ground zero” role Miami has had in our fucked up evolution. To help you swallow their conceptualism with a smile, LAW OFFICE and Pedro Velez will provide the right amount of alcohol, Jason Vorhees, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. In lieu of a press conference, LAW OFFICE featuring Pedro Velez will hold a panel discussion entitled “Artist as Curator” on January 11 @ 7p.m. This event will be co-organized by the quickly dwindling LOCUST PROJECTS management team and an individual of whom next to nothing is known, except that he goes by the alias Alfredo Triff.
LOCUST PROJECTS is sponsored, in part, by The Dade Community Foundation with support of The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, The Cultural Affairs Council, The Mayor, and The Miami-Dade county Board of County Commissioners
