Matthew Sutton:
Febreze Scentstories

Matthew Sutton presents “Febreze Scentstories,” an interactive exhibition in Locust’s project room. Using store bought Febreze scents; Sutton invites the viewer to write responses describing their associations with each smell. Sutton plays with anecdotal associations to these somewhat absurd titles- scents bearing names like exploring a mountain trail, shades of vanilla, strolling through the garden, on a tropical island, wandering barefoot on the shore, and relaxing in the hammock. Exploring the relationship between escapism from and confrontation with, reality in literature, Sutton will use the text to publish an anthology of the responses.
