Screening: Art21: Johannesburg followed by Roundtable: Identity and Community led by This Girls Lunchbox (Najja Moon & Octavia Yearwood)
Saturday, October 20, 2018, 3 pm - 5 pm
Art21: Johannesburg (runtime 55 mins.) features Locust Projects alumni, Nicholas Hlobo, a performance artist and sculptor, as well as photographers David Goldblatt and Zanele Muholi and muralist Robin Rhode--all artists living and working in post-apartheid South Africa. The film focuses on how they are using their work to empower and amplify the voices of marginalized communities in South Africa, mining their own histories to look forward to an empowered future for their communities.
Immediately following, join us for a Roundtable reflecting on the film with queer artists, Najja Moon & Octavia Yearwood, founders of the Miami-based queer membership club This Girls Lunchbox.
This event is produced in collaboration with Art21, a nonprofit global leader in art education, producing preeminent films on today’s leading visual artists and education programs that inspire creativity worldwide.
