WE DON’T NEED NO EDUCATION?
Despite Mark Twain’s (possibly accurate) assertion that education is “the path from cocky ignorance to miserable uncertainty”, the desirability and effectiveness of higher education for those in the arts has become an increasingly pertinent topic in recent years.
Miami has institutions offering various types of arts education and training, yet there seems to be a perceived ‘lack’ in terms of certain types of provision. Does this ‘lack’ actually exist, and if so, how is it best addressed? Could training via alternative educational models be just as, if not more, effective than that provided by more traditional institutions?
