Join Locust Projects and ArtCenter/South Florida for a conversation with Nato Thompson, artistic director of Philadelphia Contemporary, former artistic director of Creative Time.

Thompson is an author and curator, who recently joined Philadelphia Contemporary as Artistic Director. Most recently, he worked at the public art organization Creative Time, where he organized projects such as The Creative Time Summit, an annual convening at the intersection of art and politics. While at Creative Time, he also organized public art projects including Pedro Reyes’s “Doomocracy” (2016), Kara Walker’s “A Subtlety” (2014), “Living as Form” (2011), Trevor Paglen’s “The Last Pictures” (2012) and Paul Ramírez Jonas’s “Key to the City” (2010), among others. Previously, he worked as curator at MASS MoCA. He has written two books of cultural criticism, “Seeing Power: Art and Activism in the 21st Century” (2015) and “Culture as Weapon: The Art of Influence in Everyday Life” (2017). His speculative fantasy book “Marshsong” will be released in 2018 by Downcast Editions.
