The Places We Make brings together work by 2025–26 ProjectArt resident teaching artists Nina Osoria Ahmadi, Luz Estrella Cruz, Niko Devera, Estrella Dominguez, and Sofia Villalonga alongside artwork created by students participating in ProjectArt's free arts education programs at Miami-Dade public libraries.
Developed over the course of a nine-month residency, the exhibition reflects the relationships, conversations, and creative discoveries that emerged as artists and young people came together through artist-led classes designed around experimentation, critical thinking, and creative exploration. Through painting, sculpture, photography, performance, publishing, and interdisciplinary practices, both resident artists and students explore questions of memory, identity, community, belonging, and transformation.
Presented at Locust Projects, The Places We Make highlights the role public libraries play as spaces for learning, creative exchange, and community-building, while celebrating the contributions of artists, students, families, and neighbors who helped shape this year's residency.
The Places We Make will be on view in the Project Room through July 21, 2026.
