Celebrating Internationally Acclaimed Artist Alexandre Arrechea
Support

The ripple effect, both literally and metaphorically, teaches us that art, as a naked tool, holds the power to educate, activate, and illuminate the social fabric, fostering deeper understanding and connection.

- Alexandre Arrechea, artist

On Saturday, November 23rd Locust Projects will host its Annual Benefit Dinner. Titled, The Ripple Effect, the evening will celebrate the positive “ripples” of impact our Honorees Sheldon & Florence Anderson & Diane and Werner Grob, have had, both Locust and on Miami as generous supporters of the arts and civic leaders inspiring so many in our community. Co-chairing the event are Ximena Caminos, Marianne and John Devine, board chair; Debra Scholl, past board chair; and Dennis Scholl, founding chair.

Continuing our tradition of placing art and artists at the center of our events, the evening also celebrates internationally acclaimed Cuban-born artist, Alexandre Arrechea, one of the founding members of the Cuban collective Los Carpinteros who now makes Miami his home base.

During this one-of-a-kind interactive evening we will share moments together and enjoy a uniquely Locust dining experience created by the artist and Le Basque.

The dinner takes place in the exhibition (Herramienta desnuda) Bare Tool by Arrechea and dissects the action of a stone skipping across water as a form of “social sculpture.” Conceived of as three acts: “The Tool,” “The Action,” and “The Implications” the large-scale, immersive multimedia experience designed to provoke thought about the “ripple effect” of our actions.

The evening marks an important moment for Locust Projects as we continue to shape our future and sustain the vital work we do as an incubator of new art and ideas supporting local, national, and international artists with opportunities and resources and serve as a community hub for discovering new art and artists, for many more years to come.

We hope you will join the celebration by becoming a donor to the Annual Benefit Dinner.
